Burgundy glass
Our Burgundy glass section includes glasses with a wide, balloon-shaped bowl, designed for the red wines made from Pinot noir. This generous volume increases the surface for aeration and reveals the delicate, complex aromas of red fruit, spices and undergrowth characteristic of great Burgundies. The tapered rim brings these scents back towards the nose, for tasting as close as possible to the grape's expression.

Choosing the right Burgundy glass
Why a balloon-shaped bowl?
The Burgundy glass is recognisable by its rounded, very wide bowl. This shape offers a large surface in contact with the air, ideal for delicate, aromatic wines such as Pinot noir, which benefit from opening up slowly. The tapering towards the rim concentrates the aromas and guides them to the nose without dispersing them.
Which capacity for this type of glass?
Burgundy glasses are among the largest, often between 50 and 70 cl. This capacity lets the wine breathe fully while keeping a reasonable serving measure. For hospitality use, the balance between a stable stem and a fine bowl makes service easier and showcases the wine.
Crystalline or reinforced glass?
Lead-free crystalline glass ensures great clarity and a thin wall, valued in refined service. Reinforced ranges, more resistant to knocks and the dishwasher, suit intensive use without compromising the readability of the wine's colour.
The Burgundy glass section is part of the Specific wine glass range, within our Glassware section. For wines of the same grape or a similar style, see our Pinot noir and Bordeaux glasses. Brands available include Chef & Sommelier, Schott Zwiesel, Arcoroc and Bormioli Rocco. The AZ Boutique team is here to help you choose the format suited to your service.
