Bordeaux glass
Our Bordeaux glass section offers glasses with a tall, generous bowl, designed for the great red wines made for ageing from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The large volume encourages oxygenation and the opening of aromas, while the height of the bowl guides the wine towards the back of the palate to soften the perception of tannins. This benchmark format equips restaurant tables and enthusiasts' cellars alike.

Choosing the right Bordeaux glass
Why such a tall, wide bowl?
The Bordeaux glass is one of the largest in the wine glass family. Its generous height and diameter let the wine breathe and release its complex aromas of dark fruit and spices. The slightly tapered rim brings these aromas back towards the nose and directs the flow to the rear of the mouth, softening the tannins of structured Bordeaux wines.
Which capacity should you choose?
For restaurant service, a capacity between 45 and 60 cl is common: it allows a measured pour while leaving a wide surface in contact with the air. Thin-walled crystalline models showcase the deep colour of the wine, while reinforced glasses suit demanding hospitality use.
Crystalline or reinforced glass?
Lead-free crystalline glass offers clarity and finesse, ideal for premium service. For intensive use, reinforced ranges withstand knocks and the dishwasher better, without sacrificing the clarity needed for tasting.
The Bordeaux glass section is part of the Specific wine glass range, within our Glassware section. For other grape varieties, discover our Cabernet and Burgundy glasses. Brands available include Chef & Sommelier, Schott Zwiesel and Luigi Bormioli. The AZ Boutique team is on hand to guide you towards the format suited to your service.
