Pillivuyt

Brand distributed by AZ boutique ★★★★★ ★★★★★ 4,7/5

Welcome to our Pillivuyt boutique, a French porcelain manufacture founded in 1818 by Jean-Louis-Richard Pillivuyt in Mehun-sur-Yèvre, in central France. More than two centuries later, Pillivuyt is one of the oldest porcelain manufactures still operating in France and one of the last to make its own paste from natural raw materials: kaolin, feldspar and quartz. The house was awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label in 2009, a French state distinction recognising outstanding craftsmanship.

Pillivuyt's expertise

Pillivuyt fires its porcelain at very high temperature (up to 1,400 °C), giving it characteristic hardness, whiteness and translucency. The house designs and produces all of its porcelain at Mehun-sur-Yèvre, making it a true French-made benchmark for the table.

  • Oven-to-table porcelain: ramekins, gratin dishes, mini-cocottes resistant to thermal shock
  • Tableware: classic and contemporary plates, bowls and serving dishes
  • Hotel and professional porcelain: reinforced ranges for intensive use
  • Decorative pieces: relief patterns and under-glaze decoration
  • Bicentenary porcelain: iconic models still produced today

Choosing your Pillivuyt porcelain

What sets Pillivuyt porcelain apart?

Pillivuyt is one of the last French manufactures to formulate its own porcelain paste from kaolin (notably from Saint-Yrieix), feldspar and quartz. Firing at 1,400 °C produces hard, non-porous porcelain that does not chip and resists thermal shock. This hardness allows oven use (up to 250-300 °C depending on the model), professional dishwasher and microwave — a major advantage for professional catering and oven-to-table cooking.

What does the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label mean?

The Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) label is an official French distinction awarded by the State to companies mastering rare, ancient or exceptional craftsmanship. Pillivuyt obtained this label in 2009 for its porcelain production at Mehun-sur-Yèvre, marking French origin and process quality.

How do I choose between Pillivuyt tableware and oven-to-table porcelain?

Pillivuyt's tableware ranges (Sancerre, Paris, Quartet, Louna…) are designed for service: fineness, elegance, clean white. The oven-to-table pieces — ramekins, gratin dishes, mini-cocottes — are calibrated for cooking and are oven-safe. For home cooks who blend both uses, the Collection Générale combines versatile plates and oven-to-table dishes within the same visual language, making the move from oven to table seamless.

Which Pillivuyt porcelain for oven-to-table cooking?

The Pillivuyt oven-to-table range — ramekins, egg dishes, mini-cocottes, gratin dishes — is designed to move directly from the oven to the table without damaging thermal shock. These pieces withstand temperature ramps and retain heat during service, making them essential for soufflés, crèmes brûlées, tians, gratins and baked eggs.
