How many sandwiches do you want to prepare at once?

Capacity is the first criterion. For home use or a small foodservice point, two to four molds are usually enough. Higher output, in a snack bar or catering setting, calls for a sturdy appliance with a larger plate area, able to cook in succession without losing temperature.

Which plates should you favour?

Non-stick coated plates make release and cleaning easier. A durable coating and good heat-up ensure an evenly browned sandwich. Check the strength of the hinge and the build quality, both signs of durability under repeated use.
