What is a meat tenderiser used for?

The tenderiser flattens a piece of meat to even thickness (Milanese escalope, paillard, thin slices for carpaccio) or breaks fibres to tenderise a tough piece before cooking. The flat face of Paderno's tenderiser avoids tearing the meat, unlike spiked versions.

How do you use it?

Place the meat between two sheets of cling film or parchment to avoid splashes and protect the tenderiser. Strike with controlled shoulder taps, working from the centre outwards, until reaching the desired thickness. Too forceful tears the fibre, too light does not flatten.

Is this tenderiser dishwasher-safe?

Food-grade stainless steel handles the dishwasher. Given its 2 kg mass, check basket stability and available space before the cycle. Hand washing remains practical for most uses.
