Why beech rather than another wood?

Beech is a dense, low-porosity wood that does not deform much with moisture and stands up well to kitchen use. It does not impart taste to preparations and does not mark non-stick coatings (unlike stainless steel). It is the most used wood for professional kitchen spoons.

Which length to choose?

Guideline: 20-25 cm for individual pans and everyday preparations, 30 cm for daily use (medium pot, sauté), 35 cm for deep pots or large casseroles. 30 cm is the reference length for most kitchens.

How do you care for a beechwood spoon?

Do not put in the dishwasher, which dries out and cracks the wood. Wash with hot soapy water, dry immediately and store in open air. Occasional oiling with neutral food oil (linseed, sunflower) maintains the fibre and extends the spoon's lifespan.
