Jean Dubost

AZ Boutique proudly presents to you its section entirely dedicated to the creations of Jean Dubost, the cutler who has been accompanying your meals for over a century now. Table knives, kitchen knives or pocketknives, stainless steel, or ceramic knives: this French cutlery professional will never cease to surprise you. PEFC certified in 2009, Jean Dubost became the first cutler to receive such a merit for its sustainable management of the oak wood used in the manufacture of wooden handles for knives and tableware.

Jean Dubost: over a century of excellence.

The Dubois Colas-Pradet cutlery was born in 1920 in Viscomtat when Pierre Dubost and his wife Marcelle Colas-Pradel decided to create a company dedicated to the production of little series of knives for professionals. Traditionally, the blades of the first knives were engraved with a toucan bird, which Dubost and his wife chose to celebrate for its long sharp beak, as an allusion to the sharp blades of their knives.

In the years 1940-1945 Jean and Noël, sons of the founders, along with their wives, joined their parents to grow what would later become a living heritage company. From the first catalogue in 1950, to the first knives with coloured handles in 1961, to the butter knife in 1968, to renaming the company in 1976, to the first knife with an ergonomic polypropylene handle in 1986, to the creation of the oyster hoof  in 1988, to the creation of the folding pocket knife with an ebony handle in 1989, to the invention of the sausage cellar in 1994, from generation to generation, the Dubost family built a French manufacturing company worthy of the name.

In 1987, the brand released its first Laguiole collection, 100% made in France, respecting the cutlery tradition. These Laguiole knives will stand out from the rest with their handles made from actual horn, amourette wood, walnut wood, olive wood, wenge wood and acrylic.
